Have you ever tried to lose weight? Well if you did how? Most people will tell you to go running or eat less. That definitely works. I just wanted to share some things I’ve learned.
First off I learned that to lose weight the rough guideline is to eat less than 10 times your body weight in calories. (i.e. 125lbs -> Eat less than 1250 calories to lose weight). Normally you shouldn’t do that cause you’ll be lacking energy for the day.
I see so many people in fitness centers jogging for 40 – 60 minutes nonstop in order to lose weight. Sure it works but each time you might have to increase your running time. Think about it if you were to compare a sprinter and a long distance runner who would you say is slimmer. The sprinter of course. It’s because as you are able to run longer distances your heart becomes more efficient. So if it took you 20 minutes of running to burn 300 calories it may take you 30 minutes to burn the same amount as your heart becomes more efficient. So what do you do?
Here’s something I heard about you don’t have to try it, but maybe you will. First warm up for 4 – 6 minutes at a brisk walking pace. Then for a minute sprint as fast as you can. The next minute go to a jog. Then the next 5 minutes you cool down by jogging slowly or walking. Then you repeat it again. Until you have done it 3 times. Do this 3 times a week when first starting out then increase to 4 – 5 times a week.
Also if you want your body to be a little toned I suggest eating some fiber. Around 25g – 35g is good.
“Think about it if you were to compare a sprinter and a long distance runner who would you say is slimmer. The sprinter of course.”
I’m pretty sure a sprinter has a lot more muscle mass than a long distance runner. I think because a sprinter relues mostly on anaerobic excise. They have to rely more on the muscles in their legs and arms in order to run fast in a short amount of time. And as a result they get much bigger.
The long distance runners depend more on aerobic exercise or using their cardiovascular system. Because they’re running at a less intense pace, their muscles don’t get nearly as developed and they rely on how efficiently their heart pumps in order to let out small amounts of energy for a longer period of time. The cardiovascular system works more effeciently the smaller your body is because it uses oxygen more efficiently. In the end their bodies are perfectly designed for the best results for that particular race.
I was a just a little confused by that statement. Everything else makes a lot of sense. Actually my treadmill has a cool down-jog-run loop workout just like you described =D
